Comment:
Plasmodium malariae gametocyte in thin film; they appear 7-14 days after parasitaemia commences. This parasite is somewhat distorted as it is in the thick part of this film and better morphology can be seen in the more ideal section of a film. It is a male gametocyte (smaller than a red cell), round and compact with fibrils of chromatin and abundant of brown pigment throughout.
